On the whole, 8 A.M. Metro has some shock value but thats such a small part of the otherwise long-drawn film that its box-office chances are very bleak.

Could a spark between Preetam and Iravati have lifted the 8 AM Metro? But would it not have killed that very premise of the possibility of a friendship between a married man and woman, that like other friendships, does not require a name nor a veil of secrecy? There are of course no easy answers. However, that is precisely why this has never been an easy question.8 AM Metro cant hide its reluctance to get messy behind pretty but ultimately safe poetry, even Gulzars.

Drawing from Telugu author Malladi Ventaka Krishna Murthys novel Andamina Jeevitam, Raj could not wean the screenplay off the bookish nature of its source. There is a certain staginess to the proceedings that might have worked on the pages but on screen they feel stilted and contrived. Steeped in sadness, the narratives emotional swell remains adsorbed on the surface.

8 A.M isn’t just a movie, it is a group therapy session. It extends an arm to you for a warm hug and leaves your heart light as you step out of the theatre. There is a tale of Franz Kafkas missing doll – it acts as the perfect ending. 8 A.M Metro is a film that could heal a part of you.

8 AM Metro is a languid tale but nowhere dull. If you sit rapt with attention, you will learn something about the meaning of love, life, loss and eventual healing. This is definitely worth a watch.

Raj Rachakonda’s 8 A.M. Metro is a homage to Gulzars poetry. Its seeped in metaphors and symbolism and revolves around a platonic companionship between two strangers. Its something Gulzar himself could have made. Indeed, the cherry on the cake is Gulzars poetry which acts as the moodboard of sorts for different situations in the film.

8 AM Metro isnt just a movie that plays with your mind, but the story, in its very essence, captures our hearts. 8 AM Metro is not a bulletproof movie that will be acclaimed for being perfect, but it has a beating heart that pumps out poetry and emotions. Go for it.

The consequences of the unorthodox pairing are jettisoned just when the picture gets more complicated. Yet, 8 AM Metro has its fair share of acuity. In Iravatis relatable reticence and Pritams touching faith in the power of literature to solve all woes, themes of urban loneliness, lingering trauma and unacknowledged grief amble into view.
