Based on the largely forgotten real-life incident that involved the evacuation of 1,70,000 Indians stuck in Kuwait, Airlift is the inspiring story of an ordinary man who turns into a hero when faced with extraordinary circumstances.Im going with three-and-a-half out of five for Airlift. The occasional speed bumps aside, there are many moments that soar. Raja Menon turns an important story into a compelling film. Dont miss it.

So, Airlift has one of Akshay Kumar’s best performances – along with other sterling acts. Yet, Airlift works because it conveys a time when armies will attack civilians – you’re struck by how IS was born from the Iraqi army’s core – and raises Bollywood’s generic bar. Plus, it movingly celebrates the most beautiful flag in the world.

On the whole, Airlift is an entertaining film which will be liked by the classes and family audiences. That it tackles a subject not many are aware of is a major plus point because that keeps the audiences interest alive from the start till the end. It has emotional and patriotic value and will, therefore, prove to be a plus fare for its producers and a safe bet/earning proposal for its various distributors.

Airlift is compelling, thanks largely to a sterling performance from Akshay Kumar — who is both suitably weary and suitably level-headed for the part — enough to anchor the proceedings. The problem with Airlift, however, cinematically speaking, is that its protagonist, while messianic, might be reined in too far: There is not much Kumar has to do besides have faith and talk to people; there is no audacious plan, there is no stroke of genius — it’s all just hope and humanity. That sounds noble enough, but it makes things less interesting cinematically — compared, say, to the madly elaborate schemes carried out in Ben Affleck’s Argo

From a record-breaking figure on paper to its flesh and blood adaptation on celluloid, Airlift is a honest endeavour to recount a horrifying chapter of history whilst paying tribute to its unsung heroes personified in Katyal’s bravura and Sanjeev Kohli (a first-rate Kumud Mishra), an Indian government official working to expedite the said evacuation.

. Airlift plays it right, and gives us drama, even if things slow down and turn a trifle repetitious post interval. But overall, Airlift is a good film, solidly plotted, well executed and well-acted. Just lose the songs, and the occasional underlined background music the next time, okay?

His recreation of the harrowing events leading up to one of the most glorious chapters in Indian civil aviation history is marked by moderation and a keen sense of balance. Menon steers clear of the traps in his way while delivering a sharply written, gripping thriller that rarely, if ever, flags.Airlift is a film that every Indian, and every Bollywood buff despairing for genuinely high quality storytelling, must watch.

If Airlift were entirely a true story, there would be no room for complaints simply because you cannot alter the screenplay of real events. But when so much of fiction had to be added anyway, why couldnt that fiction be more gripping and dramatic. But theres no Argo in this if youre looking for one. Akshay Kumars stellar performance is the films backbone. In almost every frame of the film, he doesnt let his grip loose even once. Easily one of his most effective and restrained acts in recent times.

On the whole, AIRLIFT is a classic film based on a real life incident that is told extremely well on screen. It is surely one of the best films to come out this year and will pick up with a strong word of mouth. Just do not miss this one!

While the first half marches along confidently, the second half stands on shaky ground. The evacuation is hastily wrapped up and the film loses a bit of its momentum. Director Menon may have shied away from formula for most parts, but he succumbs to it towards the end.But those scenes dont ruin Airlift as you find yourself rooting for the nameless refugees. Airlift is raw, real and well-acted.
