The word Aiyaar means shape-shifter someone who can become someone else at will. The Arabic word was popularized by the landmark Hindi novel Chandrakanta. I suspect that director Neeraj Pandey who has also written the film fell in love with the word first and then reverse-engineered a story around it. Because Aiyaary is half-baked, simplistic and for the most part, a slog.

Aiyaary has some interesting twists and a couple of skilfully executed sequences, but it lacks the punch associated with Neeraj Pandeys movies… Stylish, yes. Substance, no… Neeraj Pandey misses the bus this time… His weakest work to date…Lengthy run time [2.40 hours] and lethargic pacing are two major hiccups of #Aiyaary, besides patchy and confused screenwriting… Boasts of fine performances by Manoj Bajpayee, Sidharth Malhotra and of course, Naseeruddin Shah. Thats it!

Had the film been closely edited to make it pacy, it would have sent out the message it intends to. As of now, it remains as lost as the purpose behind some of the films long drawn chase sequences.

Aiyaary wants to be a daring thriller that calls out smarmy politicians and arms dealers. But it only fires blanks. It begins with a disclaimer that its storyline is strictly fictional and that it has the utmost respect for the political class and the military establishment. The film lives up to its word. At the end of all the sound and fury, the purported targets are left unscathed. Only one poor cornered ex-soldier puts a bullet through his throat. The audience, of course, deserves much better than what Aiyaary is willing to offer.

Aiyaary has quite a few lethargic scenes that are long-drawn and dont do much to further the story or add to the characters. The complexity of the overarching plot allows for some exposition, but the screenplay goes overboard and often loses pace. The film could make a far more intriguing watch with a tighter edit devoid of all the dramatized entries and exits. Those expecting the clever Neeraj Pandey twists will probably be left wanting more. But Aiyaary has measured performances that resound louder than its bombastic score, and they alone make it a worthwhile watch.

While the director Pandey tried to build on the suspense, he fails to keep the viewers attention because of its run time and clumsy writing. The movie talks about arms and ammunition scam for about one and a half hour, but ends with a focus on Aadarsh society Scam. The movie could have been salvaged by tighter editing but Praveen Kathikuloth fails to deliver on that front. On the whole, AIYAARY misses the mark and is a huge letdown on the account of its flawed script and the lengthy runtime. At the box office, it will be a disappointing fare.

If you are a fan of spy thrillers and Neeraj Pandey, you will have to stifle yawns while watching Aiyaary. However, if you appreciate the finer things in life like Manoj Bajpayees flawless performance, you must book your tickets to the film because the actor is at the top of his game here.

but if you are going in with expectations that it will be another A Wednesday, Special 26 or Baby, be prepared: this film falls short with a half-baked story-line and weak characters. The one thing I look forward to while watching a Neeraj Pandey film is thrill. However, this one left me sitting at the edge of my seat restlessly waiting to gasp. A classic example of a well-intentioned film that isnt well executed! Watch this one only for honest performances and Sidharth Malhotras jaw-dropping good looks.

Bollywood churns out ample films but this one is worth a watch. Keeping aside how it will fare at the Box-Office, Pad Man has definitely gets us thinking about the plight of women who cannot afford sanitary napkins. In villages, thousands of women contact deadly diseases during menstruation but are unable to afford and unaware of the benefits of using pads. This film must be appreciated. Therefore you all go and watch it.
