Despite the engaging premise, Argylle grapples with story and pacing challenges. One too many twists and turns, relying on spectacle rather than substance, make the last act particularly tedious. The lengthy runtime takes away some momentum with a convoluted plot that undermines the film’s audacious approach. Vaughn executes the action scenes with ingenuity, even if they dont always work as intended. They are filled with moments of excess, particularly in the use of CGI, which detracts from the story’s coherence. Nevertheless, Argylle is a spirited and inventive take on the spy genre that mostly manages to deliver a self-aware and entertaining film. The chemistry among the cast, notably Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell, combined with Vaughn’s fanciful direction, invites audiences to embrace its mix of whimsy and humour.

Argylle is a good example of why just a long list of stars, spies, lies and plot twists does not make a good film. Even if you have Dua Lipa come waltzing in inside of two minutes, and flooring a short, seductive turn. The James Bondesque promise of that initial start is never matched, with the film clearly too pleased with its own storyline

Henry Cavill, despite a Dolph Lundgren haircut from Rocky IV, cuts a dash in his Nehru jackets. The movie does neither Cavill nor Rockwell justice by suggesting that a fantasy spy resembles Cavill but actually looks like Rockwell, but they are too professional to ruin the picture.

Argylle turns out to be a spy film that promised much but ultimately failed to deliver. Despite an intriguing premise and a star-studded cast, the film’s inconsistent execution, shifting tones, and underexplored characters leave much to be desired. Regrettably, Argylle falls short of expectations, earning a disappointing rating of 1.5 stars.

All said and done, Im sure they wouldve imagined a better product than what theyve made because if theyve achieved their imagination with this one, they shouldve kept it to their brains.

On the whole, ARGYLLE is a disappointing fare with a silly second half. At the box office, it has got a wide release in India. But due to negligible ticket sales and poor word of mouth, it might face a massive reduction of shows from Saturday.
