Expected so much more from this trio [AjayDevgn, Tabu, NeerajPandey], but AMKDT is dull and drab, gets tedious after a point… A simplistic plot that’s slow-paced, talk-heavy and overstretched… Even the finale twist falls flat.

On the whole, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is an excellently made film which boasts of great performances, superb dialogues and outstanding background music but its box-office performance will not match its merits because it is slow, and has taken a dismal start. Collections will pick up on the strength of the patronage of class audience but the masses will give the film ago-by.

It is boring. It is slow. It’s not romantic. It’s not funny. It’s not sad. What is it? A 144-minute snoozefest. It does get weaker as it goes along, leading to some very predictable plot developments.

The joy of watching seasoned warhorses Ajay Devgn and Tabu in a star-crossed romance is undercut by the movie’s mothballed treatment: instead of being fresh, it feels dated, a vehicle unworthy of its star pair. Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is a clunky title for a film which should have been anything but. Devgn and Tabu are amongst that rare breed in Hindi mainstream cinema which combines stardom and terrific actorly qualities, but even the best actors need to be used well.

Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is an attempt at a mature love story that falters in execution, with its slow pace and predictable plot hindering its impact. Watch this one if you appreciate deliberate pacing and emotionally charged narratives.

It looked like Neeraj Pandey totally failed in pulling off a romantic suspense thriller which he probably tried making. The movie lacked the steam to keep the audience engaged or glued to the screen. The story lacks the required zing which is very important for today’s audiences who have been exposed to not only Indian cinema, but world cinema too. Brilliant actors like Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Shantanu Maheshwari have been completely underused. And it looked like they were trying too hard to build up the suspense, but failed miserably.

The story of unconditional love and sacrifice is very weak. Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is not a good watch as it is quite a cliche for cinema lovers who look for something new in every film. Out of five, we are giving the film just 2 stars.

Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’s engaging pre-interval is marred by an exhausting second half. A few moments promise a spike in the tale but they’re lost opportunities. Lacking conviction, the film’s story is the biggest ‘dushman’.

The film’s restrained approach sometimes works against it. Krishna tells Vasudha that he is willing to go up in flames just so that she may warm her hands. But their coy relationship is anything but combustible. The warmth is supplied almost single-handedly by Jimmy Sheirgill, who has a cameo that threatens to turn into something interesting but never does.
