To be fair, Avengers: Age of Ultron is a perfectly watchable film, and possibly better than a lot of action movies. The problem is, it doesnt feel like a game-changer, or even particularly memorable in the manner that so many Marvel films tend to be. .Im going with a generous three out of five for Avengers: Age of Ultron. Go in with modest expectations, and you wont be too disappointed.

The Avengers: Age Of Ultron may well be a mainstream milkshake of a film, but it is one of those madly indulgent shakes €” featuring Snickers bars and dark chocolate sauce and gourmet coffee and spiked with a few swallows of something decidedly adult. Something thatll keep you giggling and energised and awake far longer than it should. As Tony Stark would say about thousand-year-old whiskeys, drink up.

Avengers: Age of Ultron, written and directed by Joss Whedon (who wrote and directed the hugely successful predecessor as well) is strictly for those that dig this sort of low-content, hi-jinks, over-the-top cinema that thrives on the thrill-a-minute approach. There can be no denying that Avengers: Age of Ultron is expertly mounted and spiced up with a dash of humour. But the quality of the ride, in its totality, is uneven. Watch it for the spectacle, not the substance.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is one heck of a superhero orgy as the mighty six  come face-to-face not only with the invincible Ultron, but various characters like Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany). With these numerous characters put together, you can’t wait for the ‘party to begin’ and Whedon rewards your anticipation, right from the beginning and maintains it till the end. Fangasm guaranteed.

But then, having said that, the film is brilliant for its own reasons. And one needs to watch it, irrespective of who says what. This weekend, take a trip to the Marvel world. Leave the dilemma outside the theatre.

The film itself seems to lack a certain ‘X’ factor that the prequel had. Though the action sequences that are a plenty never fail to impress, the viewer is left with a feeling of wanting more, especially in terms of story and depth. On the whole, with its stunning visuals and awe inspiring action sequences (especially in IMAX 3D and 3D), AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is definitely the movie to watch this weekend. With the strong fan base of the franchise, it is expected to open to full house all across.

If you want to marvel Marvels spectacular VFX served deliciously in a 3D film, this one is a winner. No one gets to go home unhappy as everyone gets their favorites, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Thor and Captain America pull off some of the greatest stunts. Seeing that the Avengers clean-up their own mess with such gusto, we can be rest assured that our planet is in safe hands.

Age of Ultron is packed with explosive fights, but where Whedon does turn the tables on the superhero formula is in details like making an almost clinical encounter between two operating systems one of the most crucial moments in the film. Ostensibly, Age of Ultron is the quintessential superhero movie: it begins with a bang, moves on to crashes and ends with a resounding boom.

Age of Ultron unfolds like every other comic book sequel youve seen: an opening battle, victory, complacency, cracks within the team, a back to the basics speech, rebuilding, and a final battle that decides Earths fate.. But the best you can say about the film is that its efficient. It certainly isnt inspired.
