Horror. Comedy. And, of course, two smashing songs€¦ #BB2 is a complete entertainment package€¦ A joyride that delivers what it promised: Non-stop entertainment€¦ WILL END DRY SPELL AT THE #BO. BhoolBhulaiyaa2 is a #KartikAaryan show. Hes in super form, will multiply his fan-following with this one€¦ #Tabu is fantastic€¦ #KiaraAdvani wonderful€¦ #RajpalYadav excels… #AneesBazmee gets it right yet again.

Director Anees Bazmee is in top form. He has the viewers attention right from the first frame and even in portions when the drama dips, he does not let his grip on their minds loosen for too long. He has made a wholesome entertainer for males and females of all classes and age groups. On the whole, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is a very enjoyable entertainer and will prove to be a richly rewarding experience for all concerned.

The biggest laughs come from the kind of slight swipes that you wouldnt expect in a Bazmee film. A pandit calling out for customers pleading €œachche din aane wale hain€; and later, while running up and down the haveli in one of those headless-chicken searches, throwing in: €œHum leke rahenge€. He stops, right there, but everyone gets the joke. If only the film got it: less is more.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is an agglomeration of grief and the grieving, a desi (more gleeful) answer to the old adage that life is, indeed, the biggest tragedy of all€”which navigates black magic and prods along an even darker subject: human nature€”and it sticks for the most part, and the bits that dont, they must be lost in the labyrinth that is life.

Overall, the Anees Baazmee directorial is an entertaining watch for sure. However, it would be great if we not get into comparison with its prequel, which we must not forget, was also an adaptation.

On the flip side, BB2 struggles to stay cohesive and hold your attention. The writing is uneven and the small moments between characters often get lost in the jarring background score and jazzy special effects. Logic and reason have no space in the movie, which has superstition and black magic at their epicentre. Also, this is not a kid-friendly movie. The scenes depicting black magic and witchcraft are quite gory and disturbing. Another USP of the original, that was missing from the new flashy version, is the soundtrack. The songs barely register, and Mere Dholna 2.0 doesnt hold a candle to the original.

But Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is a silly scary movie that knows it is a silly scary movie. This sort-of spin-off by Director Anees Bazmee wisely never suggests it has a singular smart bone in its body. What Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 highlights best is Tabu’s delight in being an actress. We’ve seen umpteen movies capturing her talent, but here we see the enjoyment she seeks from her profession.

Aakash Kaushik’s story is excellent and unconventional. It neatly incorporates the horror and comic quotient very well. On the whole, BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 is a complete entertainer and works due to the splendid combo of horror and comedy. At the box office, it is all set to take a flying start and will emerge as a super hit. It can also emerge as Kartik Aaryans second Rs. 100 crore grosser. Recommended!
