Inspiring. Motivating. Uplifting… An exemplary story of #MurlikantPetkar deftly narrated by #KabirKhan… #KartikAaryan is a revelation, this film should act as a game changer… DON’T MISS IT!

Kabir Khan’s direction is extraordinary. His genius as a story-teller is evident in several scenes. His narrative style is such that the audience gets sucked into the drama right from the word ‘go’.On the whole, Chandu Champion may be a slow starter but its positive word of mouth will see collections grow and comfortably take it to the winning post.

Chandu Champion, which celebrates an unprecedented victory in the face of great adversity, has to negotiate its own share of hurdles. It is tripped by a few of them but manages to tide over the rest. Chandu Champion may be a mixed bag but it never ceases to be uplifting.

This is the kind of film whose treatment, where everything you see is supported by dialogue, and lashings of obvious humour, makes it less than what it could have been: the beats are predictable, even as it gives us a likeable, inspirational hero we’ve never heard about.

Kabir Khan’s latest film Chandu Champion is like an annoying friend. It grows on you even if it appears odd initially. The first few minutes feel part of some template and remind you (rather unfairly) of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. You are wondering if you will be – yet again – subjected to a formula sports film. But then Kabir Khan does what he does best, and lets the emotions flow

Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav and Bhuvan Arora have also done excellent job and played their parts with utmost conviction. Overall, Chandu Champion, skilfully directed by Kabir Khan, proves irresistible with its powerful feel-good story.

Watching Murlikant overcome one challenge after another will instil the belief in you that nothing is impossible if you really work towards it. Kartik Aaryan delivers his career best performance and it’s a delight to watch him in this never seen before avatar. Go and watch it with the entire family this long Eid Al Adha weekend.

The ride from anonymity to applause feels rushed. And not surprisingly, both the eras are juxtaposed with a non-linear narrative. And as it happens with many sports dramas, before he achieves his one final moment of glory, the montage of his past plays out right in front of him that has to act as a reminder of how far he has come, and conquered. Just like Murlikant Petkar’s life, Chandu Champion is both ferocious and flawed.
