There’s not a lot by way of story in Iron Man director Jon Favreau’s ‘Chef’, but this is nonetheless a pleasant comedy that’ll have you drooling into your popcorn, then rushing to the nearest eatery as you leave the cinema.I’m going with three out of five for ‘Chef’. It’s simple, but like good cooking, there’s love gone into it.

If you’re passionate about food, this movie, replete with its food imagery, will whet your appetite for all things epicurean. But apart from that, this is a simple story that is simply told, with various food analogies, of a man who breaks a monotonous cycle and follows his instincts. Pleasing yet somewhat predictable, this film marks a sharp departure from Favreau’s various blockbuster (*Iron Man*) films into something far simpler. Johansson, however, is somewhat under-used but on the whole, the story is paced nicely. With food remaining the biggest star of this show, the side dishes also include some family-bonding as well. And the result is a serving of something refreshingly original.

Chef whips up a satisfactorily captivating, and often funny, tale of self-discovery. And who doesn’t love a good road movie. Foodies and food porn addicts, you can be rest assured €” without giving anything away €” there is no dearth of mouth-watering treats upon which you can feast their eyes. Chef is palatable feel-good fare whose recipe has smatterings of moving performances and dashes of rib-tickling humour.

A fun and unconventional movie about a chef, his life, the people he loves and his dream to cook from the heart. Jon Favreau makes you forget about the world and inhabit this lovely concoction where you will drool while watching food being prepared. It is an exploration of what it means to be happy and the risks we have to take in order to truly be great. Catch Chef and enjoy this heartwarming tale of food, passion, family and humor.

Writer-director Jon Favreau`s indie film `Chef` is a light hearted film that revolves around the life of a chef, who is passionate about his culinary art. The narration also interlaces the chef`s personal relationships and educates viewers about the impact of the social media marketing in the current scenario. Overall, `Chef` is a well made film that is thoroughly enjoyable yet cloyingly formulaic in its presentation.
