Crew is an absolute joyride: Fresh concept, hilarious episodes, witty one-liners and super soundtrack… Tabu, KareenaKapoorKhan and Kriti Sanon are a riot, shine in this well-crafted entertainer… Watch it! Hiccups? The writing slips intermittently in the second hour, a couple of sequences look like a rushed job.

On the whole, Crew is ordinary in merits but it has good initial value because of a nice trailer, pretty faces in the cast and the Good Friday holiday weekend release. It will, therefore, do fairly nice business. Collections in big cities and in multiplexes will be good while in smaller centres and single-screen cinemas, will be just about okay.

Net net, watching these three air hostesses with the mostest, in an easy breezy comedy, with plenty of self-aware chuckles strewn about, is the most fun I’ve had at the movies recently. Just what I needed to blow away the dispiriting clouds of recent Bollywood duds.

Crew is a flight that never reaches cruising altitude. It runs low on fuel precisely when it is time to get off the ground. Stuck on a narrative tarmac strewn with predictable inanities, the film is undoubtedly pretty to behold thanks to all the glamour and sass that the three lead actresses bring to the table. But all the beauty that we see on the screen is only skin-deep.

Crew might not have reached the destination that it had set out for. It’s definitely not Kareena, Tabu or Kriti’s best work. Nonetheless, it’s a great attempt at being a cookie-cutter. Give it a chance because it celebrates female friendships and despite the troughs and the crests, they fiercely love, protect and support one another, and we don’t get to see these themes in our films too often. Also, do you really want to miss out on the chance of watching Kareena looking her best self and embracing the Bebo we all fell in love with in the 2000s? Fat chances. But on a parting note, here’s hoping that the trio headlining the film gets to do another film that does them justice.

While all three bring their A game, Tabu and Kareena exude bonafide movie star energy to show how it’s done. Bebo oozes oomph and substance as a hustler who conceals her loneliness. Torn between responsibilities and desires, Tabu is terrific. The two are electrifying on screen with characters distinctly written for each. The two even crack age related jokes that we are sure they resonate with. Kriti seems like a third wheeler here but has great chemistry with Diljit. If you are looking for some light-hearted madcap comedy, Crew is everything you expect from it – frivolous, funny and glamourous.
