Janhvi Kapoor, however, has just a cameo in Devara. Her character hardly adds any value to Devara.Devara: Part 1 ends on a cliffhanger just like SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali did. But, it is also a film that makes you question if all ambitious films deserve two parts.

Even if the promise of the answer isn’t inviting enough, I would still be back for the sequel because that’s what superstar films are all about. It puts people on the seats, come what may, and on that front, Jr NTR who is returning to the big screen as a solo hero after six years, re-establishes his credentials as one of India’s biggest superstars. In many ways, the film is what exactly you expect in the trailer. Devara manages to dish up more action.From action to drama to romance and even exotic locations in songs. However, a tighter writing in the second half could have made the film more engaging.
And as expected, Janhvi Kapoor makes a glamorous entry in the second half. She has limited screen time though.

Overall, Devara is not a great film but not a poor film either. With Koratala’s familiar and standard narrative, it has to be seen if Tarak’s performance in tandem with Anirudh’s striking BGM brings it to shore from drowning in the Red Sea. The expectations went down a bit after the trailer was released and in a way that helped Devara.

Comparatively, this film is slightly better than Acharya in terms of content, though on the flip side Acharya at least had good songs. The songs in Devara are a major disappointment.
