Kaajal becomes Kitty when she joins the Red Rose Romance App, which might remind you of Dream Girl and Tumhari Sulu, both films in which the leads sold a notion of companionship over the phone. Dolly, Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare also takes a page from the ultimate classic about women breaking rules Thelma and Louise. Like in that film, a sweet, young man gives a woman the gift of an orgasm. Despite the good intentions though, the film doesnt deliver because it is written in broad strokes. But it might be fun for Dolly and Kitty to get their own streaming series. I would like to know if they ever found their chamakte sitare.

Alankrita Shrivastavas Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare blows off, with a great deal of flair, feeling and courage, the layers of repression and hypocrisy that surrounds us. You can draw a broad thematic connection between the directors previous film Lipstick Under My Burkha and this one, which can be seen both as a worthy follow-up, and a terrific companion piece.

Ultimately, ‘Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare’ brings out the different shades to womanhood through it’s layered narrative and pushes one to be who they want to be. And damn it, if society has other dreams for you.

However, in tone and texture, Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare has hit the right spots. Its intention of being a working class heroines story is quite apparent and has nice dimensions too, but there are way too many sub-plots going on for a 124-minute film. If we dont get into nitpicking then Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare is a suitable film giving a good overlook of the present feminism debates

The punches that Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare throws would have landed with greater force had the film not chosen so many cards to put on the table and in such an obviously didactic manner. A bit of calculated tangentiality would have aided both the quality of the message and the sharpness of its delivery. We would have loved to see Dolly and Kitty’s stars shine bright and steady. As things stand, they merely flicker.

On the whole, DOLLY KITTY AUR WOH CHAMAKTE SITARE has an important underlying message but the attempt to forcefully scandalize and politicize the narrative takes away the impact. This very reason, however, might also make the film a talking point.

All said and done; the film suffers from how amazing this couldve been? syndrome. It had every ingredient, from well-versed actors to a director who has been raved for a film in this zone, but it misses every target and getting two not so chamakte sitare from our side. Two stars!
