On the whole, HIT The First Case has such a weak suspense revelation that the climax mars the impact of the entire preceding drama. As such, it will not be able to salvage its position at the ticket windows.

Somewhere in this disjointed narrative lies an intriguing mystery, but it gets lost in the lacklustre telling, and the superficial characterisation. As the layers are peeled back, the backstory of the first missing girl starts coming to the surface. It involves an orphanage, an envious best friend and adoptive parents who may or may not be complicit. The boss (Dalip Tahil) of HIT, shows up now and then to wag his finger at Vikram when he breaks the rules, which is often. Of what use is a conflicted sleuth if he doesnt skate close to the wind?

HIT: The First Case never becomes the taut, intriguing, suspenseful police drama that it desperately wants to be. The routine rigmarole apart, the final reveal is terribly daft, a forced twist that is the only departure that this film makes from the original. It is only a small detail that is modified to turn a mundane case of envy (in the original film) into a woke affair and heartbreak, but the individuals – and the casualties – at the centre of the big closing reveal hold no surprises.HIT: The First Case would have been much better off being a dubbed version of the Telugu film in this era of pan-Indian releases

The issue with HIT is the fact that the second half gets extremely predictable and goes from a whodunnit to a weak thriller. Also, we get very little information on Vikram’s traumatic past and how it triggers him into his present-day job. At a time when OTT has such diverse and rich content to offer in the murder mystery genre, HIT feels a bit of a struggle.

Hit: The First Case isnt at par with Andhadhun, but isnt very weak either. The premise of the movie is pretty strong and what adds the right flavour is Sailesh Kolanus screenplay. He is in no rush to tell you things because in his mind he is creating a franchise and he has a lot of time to tell his desires narrative. Now, I havent seen the original Telugu version, so I dont know if the approach is same as the filmmaker is.

What works wonders for the film is the way a simple thriller story is presented. There is nothing extraordinary or mind-blowing in the plot of the film but the way with which it has been directed and presented is really appreciable. The makers made sure to add the elements of fun, entertainment, and action. The film not just keeps you intrigued throughout, but it also provides you with a dose of laughter in between. In certain scenes, several serious social issues have also been raised. It should also be noted that none of these elements look forced or weird in the script.

Overall, HIT: The First Case narrates a gritty story of a homicide mystery which will surely keep you hooked till the end. Even though some of the glitches of the film are inevitable, Hit does make it for a must-watch film. Nevertheless, if youre sucker for suspense, crime drama, this movie could be in your watchlist. I will go with 3 stars and just so you know, it is RajKummar who stole the show in this intense thriller suspense.

The intermission point is quite arresting and so are the scenes thereafter, when Vikram solves the mystery of the mysterious note. On the flipside, the suspense is unpredictable but not entirely convincing. The motive of the killer and also other aspects, which are unveiled to the audiences, could seem silly. Surely something better could have happened here at the script levelOn the whole, Hit The First Case is a decent watch thanks to Rajkummar Raos superlative performance, whodunnit element and a promising story. At the box office, itll need a positive word of mouth to pull audiences to cinemas.
