The film, which is drawing comparisons to Gregg Araki’s work, tells the story of Owen (played by Ian Foreman when he’s younger and primarily by Smith) is just trying to survive life in the suburbs. He’s having parental problems (his mother, played by Danielle Deadwyler, babies him and his father, played by Fred Durst, is a controlling monster), but his life changes when he bonds with schoolmate Maddy (Lundy-Paine).
Maddy shares his fascination with mysterious late-night, Buffy-style YA horror drama called The Pink Opaque — a vision of a supernatural world beneath their own. As he dives deeper into the show, Owen’s view of reality begins to crack.
Boasting a killer soundtrack that includes Yeule and Caroline Polachek, it’s shaping up to be a neon-tinted dive into emotions and terror. I Saw The TV Glow lands Stateside on 3 May but has yet to lock down a UK date.
