Thats true of the film too. At only two hours, Judgementall Hai Kya feels overlong and overstretched. The films second half is so weak, it makes you forget a lot of what you enjoyed in the first half. Which is a real shame because its shot and scored imaginatively, and makes a strong case for inclusion and empathy. Kangana Ranaut is solid, and Rajkummar Rao brings a real element of mystery to his character, never allowing us to feel like weve entirely figured the guy out. But the film falls way short of greatness on account of a muddled script that loses steam halfway.Im going with two-and-a-half out of five for Judgementall Hai Kya. While you admire the attempt at originality, you cant help feeling frustrated at just how it all comes apart in the end.

Hindi cinema has an extremely dodgy record of depicting mental illness. Judgementall Hai Kya comes with an empathetic gaze, which is a big step forward. The ambition of the story both in content and style is very exciting. But Kanikas screenplays seem to suffer from the soft belly syndrome. Manmarziyaan, Kedarnath and now Judgementall Hai Kya exert a solid grip in the first hour but in the second, the plotting becomes unsteady. Judgementall Hai Kya dips and soars. Like Bobby, the film can be exhausting. But like her, its also a true blue original. And you should give it a shot.

On the whole, Judgementall Hai Kya is meant only for a tiny section of the audience €” the classes and the elite. The films humour may work but the confusing drama would end up testing the patience of the rest of the audience. The film will at most places face rejection by the public.

Watch this film. As evidenced by a man Bobby sees carrying homilies on placards on a street corner, Judgementall Hai Kya knows the difference between accepting and determining something. It is a film about malicious misdirection, and the validity of our narratives €” especially those labelled incorrect. Its okay to jump at a cockroach even if youre the only one who sees it. From the right angle, a bug is a feature.

This is the kind of movie which will sharply divide audiences. And thats as it should be. Once I began seeing it as the murmurings of a different mind, I bought it as a caper, as burlesque, where nothing is as it is. I had problems with some of it, but I really liked the rest of it.

Judgementall Hai Kya plays with the mind, and that’s its USP. Kovelamudi’s narrative is quirky, trippy, crisp and keeps you on the edge throughout. It’s not your usual whodunnit thriller because Judgementall Hai Kya moves beyond suspense and delves into something deeper.Through Bobby and Keshav, Kovelamudi gives an insight into a world that many are unaware of. An unapologetic acceptance of oneself.While the first half is entertaining, intriguing and engaging, the second half is a tad bit stretched. Despite being a 121 minute film, Kolevamudi makes the second half a tiring affair.

‘Judgementall Hai Kya’ keeps the element of suspense alive all the way till the end. The film pushes the envelope as a dark, psychological whodunit, with a social message weaved in that cant be ignored. The film treads into a zone where Bollywood has rarely been, and just for that, it deserves applause.

This films trailer can throw some off. It projects this one as a police procedural where the two prime suspects have conflicting narratives to a murder. But while this one hardly delivers as a nail-biting thriller, the dash of wry humour laced with the proceedings makes the films two-hour-long runtime just about sufferable.

Watching Judgementall Hai Kya, in which she plays Bobby €” a quirky woman living with a severe mental health disorder where she hears multiple voices in her head€” isnt going to provide us with any concrete answers to our loaded question. But it will make you wonder, where does Ranaut, the performer, take charge and where does Ranaut, the defiant diva, let up in Judgmentall Hai Kya. Judgemental Hai Kya is a hugely satisfying, snappy thriller with its 1 hour and 56 minutes running time. Entering Bobby and Keshavs muddled heads is a risk worth taking.

It’s a very different screenplay. The writer Kanika Dhillon seems to have taken inspiration or picked up the plot from a similar Korean or French film, as the screenplay, editing and shooting style reflect the cinema there. It’s not a normal Hindi film screenplay. Judgementall Hai Kya is not for those people who have liked films like Article 15, Super 30 or Kabir Singh. This film is for an elite audience who can comprehend the English or French art film style.
