Kalki2898AD has substance, style, fantastic second half AND Prabhas in supreme form… NagAshwin creates a world that’s breathtaking and brilliantly unique… Get ready for TSUNAMI at the BO. portions in the first hour appear stretched [at times] and lack the much-needed punch… The outstanding second hour, thankfully, compensates for the shortcomings.

On the whole, Kalki 2898 AD is a super-hit fare. If one were to consider the business of all the versions (Telugu original as also the dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam), it would qualify to be termed a blockbuster of epic proportions. In the final tally, it will turn out to be one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema, if not the biggest. Business of the 3D version will be historic.

Pre-interval, Kalki, which happily borrows its aesthetics from all kinds of futuristic films (with flashes of Mad Max, Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Lord of The Rings, and even, yes, a glimpse of the godawful Adipurush, and, of course, the Bahubali-RRR slate, showing major indebtedness to the Amar Chitra Katha universe) meanders, stops and starts, remembers that it needs to bung in a set piece here and a set piece there, and then slumps back again. The second half, which is clearly reserved for the big-hero-villain-confrontations, saves it from being a total snoozefest. And it redeems itself, just in the nick of time, by a rousing climax, where everyone comes out, literally, all guns blazing.

Kalki 2898 AD has the firepower that an aspiring futuristic franchise needs and it harnesses it pretty well. So, for all its flaws, it does not ever careen out of control.

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is undeniably a larger-than-life visual spectacle that transports viewers into a vividly imagined universe. In fact, the film’s visual quality is so high that it overshadows many of its obvious flaws by engaging the audience into the atmospherics of the make-believe world of Kasi and the Complex. Moreover, it’s a concept that can spark imaginative experiences beyond the cinema. If you enjoy diving into a world of epic battles between Gods, good, and evil, then ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ offers quite a satisfying audio-visual experience, even though it may require some patience.

Overall, Kalki 2898 AD,” if viewed with an open mind, provides enough entertainment and offers something unique within its confines. Those expecting a traditional hero-centric film might be disappointed. Nonetheless, the film is a novel attempt in Telugu cinema, as this type of sci-fi mythological drama has never been made before. It is primarily aimed at urban audiences and may not resonate with viewers in smaller towns. Director Nag Ashwin showcases moments of brilliance alongside moments of ineffectiveness.

The interval’s explosive impact and the gripping confrontations between Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan are truly remarkable. From the intense pre-climax to the gripping cliffhanger, the film offers mind-blowing sequences that justify every moment on screen. However, the first half’s slow-burn narrative and length might test audiences’ patience. Don’t miss this cinematic experience—secure your tickets now and witness it in the best format possible.
