On the whole, Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes is interesting in parts only and boring otherwise. As such, it cannot hope to do much, at least as far as the dubbed Hindi version is concerned. The original English version will fare better.

Despite the film’s narrative shortcomings, it is an entertaining adventure that engages viewers. The performances, particularly by Teague and Durand, are commendable, and the visual effects set new benchmarks for the franchise. While it may not linger in the memory as the preceding trilogy did, ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ is a worthy addition, offering a mix of action, drama, and visual wonder.

However, while they execute the battles this implies with much flourish, with actors as both humans and apes putting up decent performances, we have seen the ending too many times before. Plus the film is unceasingly grim, with no moments of levity to make us pine for what is at stake. Neither is a cavernous vault holding humanity’s secrets and the key to its re-emergence at the top of the pyramid, from the primitive, speech-less form it has receded into, the most attractive of battlegrounds.

On the whole, KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is a grand, spectacular saga but suffers due to an average script. At the box office, it might face a tough time due to limited buzz and also because of limited following for the series in India.
