Even with the cameras due to start rolling within the next couple of weeks, the rush of casting news on the new Jurassic World film remains unstoppable, like a T-rex crashing through a deactivated electric fence. Today brings word, via The Hollywood Reporter, that double Oscar winner Mahershala Ali is primed to make a rare foray into blockbuster territory to snag a role among the dinosaurs.

The Creator‘s Gareth Edwards is busy preparing to make the giant new film, working from a script by Jurassic Park veteran scribe David Koepp.
If he does make a deal, Ali will be among the group likely to be spending some of their time evading toothy nightmares, which already includes Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo.

Nothing is known about the story for this one (besides, you know, the obvious), or how it will connect to the wider Jurassic world. At this time, we’re not expecting to see the likes of Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard or the OG trilogy cast, though cameos can’t be ruled out.

Ali, of course, has been attached for a while to star in Marvel’s attempt to bring Blade into the MCU, but with that film still stuck in limbo, we can only assume the Jurassic team made a tempting offer. Either that, or he just really likes dinosaurs.
