Watched MissionMajnu and the first thing you notice is the sincere and passionate performance of SidharthMalhotra, besides recreation of the bygone era with precision€¦ Like Shershaah, this one shouldve also taken a theatrical route, instead of direct-to-digital path.

Mission Majnu does not deliver a thrill a minute nor does it produce any exceptional degree of tension and suspense. Yet, parts of the film, especially in the second hour, do spring to life.It is the protagonist’s ordinariness that is as special as his valour. But this hero and Sidharth Malhotra’s interpretation of the character might have had a greater impact had this been a film less ordinary.

The line, deshbhakti rooh mein hoti hai is like a balm in these riven, polarised times. But Mission Majnu doesnt make enough of its potential, and of its good-looking leads. It is a sedate, by-the-numbers, drone.

Mission Majnu starring Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna begins with the declaration that it is inspired by true events. If we believe the events in this film, we have to conclude that Pakistan, in the mid-seventies, was run by men who could all fit under one label – Dumb and Dumber. I can see why Mission majnu would be attractive for an actor being a spy is inherently sexy the job offers the opportunity to be courageous and dashing it requires you to deliver a performance within a performance and it also offers the opportunity for chest thumping patriotism amandeep gets to
deliver lines like but for any of this to land the story has to be more believable

Mission Majnu has its heart set in the right place. Its engaging in parts and the story is definitely worth telling. I only wish it had a better sense of direction and vision in terms of what it sets out to achieve.

This is a must-watch if you admire Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna’s work. However, even if you’re not a big fan, it’s worth a watch. Although the storyline is not particularly original, it has been efficiently done and keeps you intrigued.’Mission Majnu’ is a decent movie overall. Even while the plot may not be very innovative or mind-blowing, the performances and direction make it worth seeing.

If the edge-of-the-seat thrill is missing most of the way, so is the action. Except for two action sequences, one on a train and another at the airport, its a largely unexciting spy story. In a thriller without tension but with plenty of unasked questions, Sidharth Malhotra is charming most of the way but out of his depth in emotional moments.

Shantanu Bagchis direction is average. Although he has extracted good work from out of his actors, he has not been able to offer much thrill to the viewers or even inspire patriotic feelings in them.On the whole, Mission Majnu is a very ordinary fare. It is good that it has been released directly on an OTT platform because it would not have been able to entice the audience to the cinemas.
