Ananya Sharma has written a ridiculous story and screenplay, which will find very few takers. The entire concept of showing a mans tummy growing in size because he is pregnant seems repulsive. Actually seeing a pregnant man is even more cringe-worthy. As a result, what was meant to be a comedy turns out to be irritating €” and horrifyingly so! Ananya Sharmas dialogues are ordinary. On the whole, Mister Mummy will be rejected right at the concept level itself. It will face audience condemnation and will even be ridiculed.

Director Shaad Ali who has co-written the film with Ananya Sharma, tries to, but struggles at, adding value and depth to the story. There’s a substantial amount of ammo to work with€”unplanned parenthood, distressed marriage, and a pregnant man, to name a few. But nothing is fleshed out in a compelling way.All things considered, Mister Mummy could have explored a lot more with the material at hand. But Shaad Ali ends up losing out on this opportunity. Definitely not worth watching.

The film is neither a comedy — though Manjrekar with his gay act tries to be funny — nor an emotional drama of an estranged couple still in love. There is a scientific and perfectly credible explanation to what Amol goes through, but by the time it comes, it hardly matters. The exit door looks more inviting.

Shaad goes back in time and forgets the audience he is making the product for. The treatment is so dated and done to death that nothing triggers or moves anything. Loo Break: You can watch this film from any minute and understand whats going on. No, it isnt simplistic, its supremely repetitive. Stay in the loo come by the end and you might have not missed much.
