On the whole, Mitron is a good comic entertainer but lack of awareness about the films release will greatly restrict the films box-office potential. It may have started slow but the good dose of comedy, and two hit songs coupled with word of mouth, will see collections grow in the weekend but that may not be good enough.

The first half is almost strong, as the story keeps your attention glued as it unfolds. But in the second half, with a wafer-thin plot that is extremely guessable, the film dips. Its like a boring story that an elderly relative will narrate and you want to leave the room when that happens. The songs only work to elongate the suffering.

All said and done, Mitron continues the golden run of entertaining movies of 2018. Sharib Hashmis dialogues and some very good performances are worthy of your time. Give it a chance if youre looking for a light-hearted comedy. Its a clean family entertainer with some funny moments throughout, if thats what youre looking for this week, you can go ahead.

MITRONs first ten minutes are flat with none of the jokes working. Its only when Jai and Avni get trapped in a room and they narrate about their life is when the film picks up. The flashback is told interestingly; notice how the actors break the fourth wall at places smoothly while narrating their tale. The manner in which Jai catches his girlfriend Shruti indulging in cheating is sure to bring the house down. Also, Jais attempt at pranking people by pretending to immolate himself is hilarious. The track of Avni and Vikram begins unexpectedly but it has its moments. The twist during the intermission point works. Post interval, the fun continues. The humiliation faced by Avni at the engagement brunch is a crucial sequence handled well (although the scenes that lead to it are difficult to digest) and also the following sequence involving Jai and Avnis father. The pace does drop here but it gets back on track in the climax.

First things first, don’t get fooled by the title. The film has nothing to do with PM Modi or his politics. It’s a remake of Telugu film Pelli Choopulu (2016) starring Vijay Devarakonda and Ritu Varma in lead roles and revolves around a couple who want to escape the clutches of arranged marriage and want to do something unique with their lives. It’s directed by Filmistaan fame Nitin Kakkar, who has kept the spirit of the original intact while transplanting the story in Gujarat. In short, watch this relatable comedy with your family, and come back with the laughs and a better understanding of generational gap…
