On the whole, Monster Hunter is a poor fare which will not be able to sustain at the box-office. The current times, when people are not coming to cinemas in large numbers because of the fear of the coronavirus, will only tell on the business and add to its tale of woes.

All of 130 minutes, Monster Hunter, packs in too many punches in an attempt to become an all-out action extravaganza. But for a film that tells the story of the real people, fighting the beasts of the new world, it feels a lot less thrilling than its source material. Are you game?

Theres a cursory, video game-inspired, mission-oriented plot €” Natalie and The Hunter must go on a quest to a Sky Tower, battling a collection of monsters along the way. There are training montages scored to synth rock music, and a quick cameo by Ron Perlman, playing Kurtz-lite.All of it, however, feels depressingly hollow, even by the standards of corny, unpretentious action movies. Kill it before it lays eggs

How many monsters does a Hollywood film take? For writer-director Paul W S Anderson, one can never have too many. How many US soldiers does it take to capture them? One, clearly, is more than enough. Jovovich and Jaa are dragged through some superhuman challenges, lot of physical harm, and monsters that keep coming and coming. However, it is ultimately Andersons mumbo jumbo effort to clothe this ordeal in €œreality€ that does the film in.
