“FUN BUT FORGETTABLE”

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

MOTHER OF THE BRIDE is a comedy on Netflix. Emma is a young woman who works for a large resort company in London with a young man named RJ and his father, Will. Emma is surprised when RJ proposes to her after dating her briefly. Emma says yes, but she’s worried what her mother, Lana, will say. However, Lana is also excited. At the wedding resort in Thailand, Lana and everyone else is surprised to learn RJ’s father was Lana’s high school sweetheart. Trouble ensues. Will Lana and Will reconnect? Will the wedding for Emma and RJ take place?

MOTHER OF THE BRIDE is fun, with an engaging plot. However, the low budget is obvious, and some characters are one dimensional. The movie has a pro-family message where family members support each other, despite their differences. Also, a Christian priest performs the wedding. However, MOTHER OF THE BRIDE also has some Romantic elements about following your heart rather than doing the right thing. There’s also a scene of drunkenness, light lewd comments and a Buddha image. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for older children.
