When you wish upon a star…. magic happens as Walt Disney Studios releases the official teaser trailer for their upcoming live-action reimagining of the classic Pinocchio. View trailer below.

Academy Award® winner Robert Zemeckis directs this live action retelling of the beloved tale of a wooden puppet who embarks on a thrilling adventure to become a real boy. Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto, the wood carver who builds and treats Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) as if he were his own son. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Jiminy Cricket, who serves as Pinocchio’s guide as well as his “conscience”; Academy Award® nominee Cynthia Erivo is the Blue Fairy; Keegan-Michael Key is “Honest” John; Academy Award® nominee Lorraine Bracco is Sofia the Seagull, a new character, and Luke Evans is The Coachman. Also in the cast are Kyanne Lamaya as Fabiana (and her marionette Sabina), Giuseppe Battiston as Señor Stromboli and Lewin Lloyd as Lampwick.

To be quite honest, I sort of totally forgot about this movie being remade in the near future. Well, I guess that time is now. This first look at the upcoming movie teases us (the viewers) of the beloved Disney classic definitely shows off a new reimagining of the memorable feature. Seeing a lot of familiar characters, hearing the first song….it sort of gives me goosebumps. I’m interested to see how faithful this movie is to the original Disney animated classic and how it will be received by viewers. In the end, I’m looking forward to seeing what this live-action remake does with the iconic animated tale.
