On the whole, Pippa is a fair entertainer for the digital platform. Had it released in the cinemas, it wouldve found the going tough.

Pippa has a scale. Some of the battle scenes, shot with vigor by Priya Seth, who also did terrific work on Rajas 2016 film Airlift, showcase her skill. Despite the roster of fine actors Ishaan Khatter, Priyanshu Painyuli, and Mrunal Thakur they arent able to fully breathe life into their characters, as they seem more like ideas on paper rather than fleshed-out people.

A good war film takes you up close to the sights and smells of battle, to the point where you flinch when bullets hit bodies, and want the bloodshed to end just as much as the characters on screen do. Here, Rams being captured and tortured by a fellow (Inaamulhaq) meant to exude menace, is more caricature than anything else, despite Painyuli being the sort of actor you want to watch more of. Mrunal Thakur, as the sister who works on cracking codes in a top-secret organisation, comes off generic, and Soni Razdan is wasted.

However, Pippa does have its shortcomings, particularly in the second half, where the pacing could have been tighter. While the film effectively portrays the chaos and violence surrounding the birth of Bangladesh, the dialogues, too, at certain points, fail to make a strong impact, and the screenplay tends to drag. The film stands out as a compelling and emotionally charged war drama with some good performances.A good one-time watch.

Pippa merits applause. It is a war film that refrains from a frontal attack on our senses and eardrums. No mean feat that.

Whether a brazen young soldier or one displaying leadership and presence of mind, Ishaan Khatter shines in his role. Priyanshu Painyuli, as the disciplined and brave Major Ram Mehta, is outstanding. The duo performs well together, whether in depicting the brothers’ strained relationship or how it changes later. Mrunal Thakur does justice to her role. The movie also stars Inaamulhaq as a lowlife Pakistani soldier, Shibli, and Soni Razdan as the war heroe brothers’ mother, who are excellent in their roles.’Pippa’ is a must-watch as a war movie, especially for its heartfelt tribute to India’s spirit of standing up for humanity.

Concluding the Pippa movie review, Ishaan Khatter starrer is a decent movie to watch. The film will surely evoke a sense of patriotism as it showcases a soldiers life. Though the story is intriguing, it will still make you feel a little lost in bits and parts. The film could have been delivered in a shorter runtime.

However, these can surely be overlooked with the kind of content, cinematography and the story the film offers. It’s real, it’s raw and just the right kind of dramatic. ‘Pippa, undoubtedly, can be regarded as one of the best war films weve had of late. A great watch, indeed!

But, overall the movie is a tribute to Indias generosity in the making of Bangladesh. A sincere mission which could have been executed a little bit better in the film.
