The team of Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg return from their 2010 comedy hit The Other Guys, with the new offering from director Sean Anders (We’re The Millers, Horrible Bosses 2, That’s My Boy), Daddy’s Home.

Ferrell plays Brad Whitaker, an executive on the Panda smooth Jazz radio station, and married stepfather to his wife’s two children Megan and Dylan. His wife Sara (Linda Cardellini) had the two children from a previous relationship and Ferrell is working hard to build a relationship with them both.

As part of this, he has taken on a huge number of volunteering and school support activities, reading to church groups, coaching sports teams and volunteering in the somewhat testing school pick up routines.

All is heading in the right direction until their actual father Dusty Mayron (Wahlberg) learns of Sara’s marriage to Brad and decides to visit the family.

Dusty emerges as a motorbike riding, alpha male compared to Whitaker and the two being a series of one-upmanship activities as they each attempt to establish themselves as the dominant male in Sara and the children’s lives.

Throughout this, the team offer a number of genuinely funny moments that are consistent throughout the film.  It’s a warm hearted film and for my money, probably the best comedy that Ferrell and Anders have each produced for years.
