REVIEW – QUEEN AND COUNTRY

For the ‘Q’ film of the Alphabet Challenge (always tricky this letter), we now look to Queen and Country, the 2014 british comedy drama.  The film, both written and directed by John Boorman, is a sequel to the 1997 film Hope and Glory. 

Set in the 1950’s the film follows the two characters of Bill Rohan (played by Callum Turner) and his friend Percy (Caleb Landry Jones) who meet as they are being enlisted into National Service in the British army.

The story follows the two young men into the world of national service, but also into the courting of young ladies.

Its a solid film, possibly one more meaningful if you’ve seen the earlier film. It was  ok although quite ‘hammy’ but I wouldn’t recommend to anyone beyond those needing to watch a film beginning with Q…
