Runway 34 is pretty much the Ajay Devgn show. Vikrants character seems to have emerged from the strong-silent-stoic persona that Ajay has honed over three decades in film. This is a man whose stride tells the world dont mess with me. I wish Runway 34 had leaned into Vikrants faultlines as much as Flight did into Whitakers. Washington scored an Oscar nomination for that performance. But perhaps Hindi cinema isnt ready yet for an A-list superstar to play such a depraved, pathetic character. Still, Runway 34 does break away from Bollywood formula. The film is inconsistent, but also ambitious and in places, thrilling.

On the whole, Runway 34 is a class-appealing film. Looking to its heavy cost (a huge amount of money has been spent on computer graphics, among other things), the film will not be able to do commensurate business at the ticket windows. Flop.

Runway 34, written by Sandeep Kewlani and Aamil Keeyan Khan, is magnificently executed and abounds in moments, especially in the first half, that have the potential to take one’s breath away. Yes, the film would probably have soared much higher and gone much further had its return to terra firma in the second half been scripted with a little more imagination.

On the whole, RUNWAY 34 boasts of fine performances, technical brilliance and a gripping first half. However, the slow moving and talk-heavy second half dilutes the impact to a great extent. At the box office, the film will appeal to multiplex frequenting audience.

However, Runway 34 should be experienced for the way it depicts one of the scariest, and a near-disastrous aviation mishap in recent times with engaging characters, thrill and drama. Although there have been films shot in large and small chunks inside aircrafts, this one plays wonderfully on the audiences psyche showing them exactly what may just go wrong if the weather doesnt support a flights landing and when decisions have to be made running against a clock. Overall, the film doesnt spend too much time taxiing on the runway; it takes off quickly and keeps you hooked till you disembark from the theatres aisles.

With Runway 34, Ajay Devgn returns as director and presents a unique theme which is a fantastic cinematic experience. The impact compounds with scintillating performances by Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh, Boman Irani and Ajay Devgn himself.

The film is full of special-effects, brilliant performances and moments, which are relatable and could make you teary eyed. Ajay Devgn is sublime and impressive with his direction and acting in the film.

However, one wished that Devgn had realized that this formula doesn’t work when it comes to films. A little more emphasis on the emotional aspect of the writing would have resulted into a smooth journey for Runway 34. Having said that, the investigative thriller still makes for an engaging watch.

GLADIATOR II OFFICIAL TRAILER What we do in life…. echoes in eternity as Paramount Pictures releases the official trailer for the upcoming sequel film Gladiator II. View trailer below. Several decades after the events of Gladiator (2000), Lucius—the grandson of Rome’s former emperor Marcus Aurelius and son of Lucilla—lives with his wife and child in Numidia. Roman soldiers led by general Marcus Acacius invade, forcing Lucius into slavery. Inspired by the story of Maximus, as depicted in the original 2000 film, Lucius resolves to fight as a gladiator while opposing the rule of the young emperors Caracalla and Geta. There has been a lot (and I do mean a lot) of hype for this particular project, with many clamoring for any type of tidbits and news from the movie. Now, the first official preview has dropped, and it does look glorious. Perhaps my biggest gripe about this movie is that the movie really feels superfluous. There is no doubt that the original film was spectacular and fantastic and continues to be timeless in its own cinematic right. It’s an incredible sold “one and done” movie that didn’t need a sequel or franchise built around it. It was just that good. So, why reopen something that was perfect on its own. I not saying that the sequel will bad (I pray that it isn’t), but it’s got a quite feat to try and overcome or even come close to cinematic greatness. Still, for better or worse, anticipation for this sequel project is paramount and I’m very much looking forward as to what Gladiator II has to offer. Basically, good or bad…. I’m excited for this movie.
