All in all, Shazam! Fury of the Kings is a visually immersive super show peppered with action, comedy and an emotionally moving climax that overrides some of its obvious flaws. If youre looking for some family friendly entertainment that still packs a punch, then this sequel has the perfect razzle dazzle to treat your senses.

What does not return is the joy, exuberance and sheer frothiness of the first Shazam! that had made it float. Fury of the Gods, in contrast, is a plodding, convoluted, much-too-talkative-without-saying-much venture, a lot of it staged in unattractive wastelands.

Having said this, I must confess that a couple of twists in the climax felt convenient and a bit too childish as well for me. The dragon seen in the trailers begins to lose its charm in the climax, ending up to be a mere pile of wood floating in the air. The CGI also felt a tad bit weak in certain places of the climax but hey, the kids are going to enjoy it. A special shoutout to the epic cameo. It is going to make you hoot. Stay back for the mid and post-credits scenes to see what Shazams future looks like in James Gunns envisioned DCEU. Bottom Line: Shazam! Fury of Gods serves as a worthy sequel that packs in the laughs, smart dialogues, and fun performance.

In recent times, DC Extended Universe has delivered some good and gripping content and with Shazam 2 it has honestly it has surpassed my expectations. The delightful superhero sequel is bigger and funnier than the first part as it successfully manages to keep the essence of humour and heart intact to its storyline.

The film might not be as quirky as the first and also suffers from the sequel curse, but it is not to be totally dismissed. The humour and charm are maintained. Not just Zachary Levi, but Jack Dylan Grazer adds the fun element in the film. He is the star, often taking the spotlight away from Levi even! There are several fun moments that make-up for the misses that the film has. Moreover, the film keeps you invested and this is a gang who you cant help but root for.

All said and done, Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania made Marvel look more like DC and Shazam! Fury Of The Gods makes DC look more like Marvel. Itd be fascinating to see the next moves of these superhero films churning production houses while we wait for some of the baseless mid/post-credit scenes (this one has 2).
