New adventure, new rival, and an unexpected ally as Paramount Pictures releases the official trailer for their upcoming sequel film Sonic the Hedgehog 3. View trailer below.

Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are pitted against a mysterious and powerful new adversary, Shadow the Hedgehog. The trio seeks out an unlikely alliance with Dr. Robotnik in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet.

Like many, I was wondering when the official trailer preview for this upcoming project was going to come out. Thankfully, it’s here and it looks to be a wild ride. I did find Sonic the Hedgehog 2 to be a great time and was superior to the original film, providing plenty of new context, characters, and fan service into the mix that definitely worked for some fun popcorn flick. Sonic 3 seems to continue that trend with the trailer showcasing plenty of new footage from this sequel feature. The return of Carrey’s Robotnik is definitely worth the wait, and I’m stoked to see him back and funnier than ever. Plus, the first appearance of Shadow the Hedgehog, who is being voiced by Keanu Reeves, looks to be a great character foil for Schwartzman’s Sonic and Elba’s Knuckles. All in all, I’m quite excited to see what this third installment in this film series has to offer and what a great way to bring the holiday season a celebratory end with a penultimate release like this.
