Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith

Ditching Rogue Squadron’s frantic space battles, this latest Star Wars offering focuses on lightsaber duels, allowing gamers to play out their Jedi fantasies. But in reducing the final Wars movie to an old-fashioned hack ‘n’ slash brawler, Sith pales in comparison to recent LucasArts offerings.

In terms of presentation, it’s flawless, with the bombastic score intact and razor-sharp graphics that look exactly like the scenes and characters from the film. Moreover, the swordplay animations are among the best ever seen in a video game, due mostly to the considerable input of Nick Gillard, the prequels’ stunt-coordinator.

In the end, though, Sith is a triumph of style over content. And while there are a zillion-or-so lightsaber attacks to learn as the game unfolds, it’s only a matter of time before you grow weary of chopping battle droids into scrap metal.
