The movie plot is packed so if you blink you might miss a few details, but the series on the other hand breathes out the scenes. I feel the sprawling story needs the span of a series to do it justice. If you must watch just one pick the series. I was engrossed enough to watch the movie and fill in the gaps with the series. The beautifully architected score layers the emotions and I suspect it’s going to go on many playlists. This is Bejoy’s ship through and through and one thing is for sure, with Taish served two ways the capabilities of stories on Indian screens have expanded.

The script gives Rane, Sarbh and Samrat equal weightage. The actors play three different models of masculinity – the first is toxic and aggressive, the second restrained in his ways, and the third filled with uncontrollable angst. But none of them is reduced to a flat character type – the actors etch out deeply flawed, and wronged, men with their share of contradictions. Taish, far from perfect, thrills and engages in equal measure. It adds up to more hits than misses.

On the whole, TAISH rests on an interesting storyline and is embellished with some fine performances. But the long length and a weak second half dilutes the impact to a great extent.

Strong brews are Director Bejoy Nambiar’s forte and his gripping slice-of-mess about things spiralling out of control find an expression in a striking ensemble and volatile scenery. Taish circles in a moment, one unthinking rash moment without paying heed to the repercussions that will follow. The rush of adrenalin is everything — whether going for the kill or paying the price. And Bejoy Nambiar has a ball submitting to its murky whims.
