This may not be an edge-of-your-seat, hard-hitting crime thriller as you expect it to be, but its understanding and expression of grief, isolation and repressed anger is noteworthy. Also, you won’t be able to guess the killer till the end. If that’s what you are looking for, this film succeeds. You just wish the build up was more chilling and captivating.

To all the Kareena Kapoor Khan fans out there, you definitely check out The Buckingham Murders once for her stellar and honest performance. Once released into the OTT sphere, the movie might have an excellent chance to shine. A little more nuanced screenplay would’ve prevented the predictability of the plot. But overall, the movie does make way for an engaging watch.

It is Kareena Kapoor Khan who raises the bar here. The fact of her presence may make everyone else in the film a clear supporting character, something that Bollywood filmmakers have to figure their way around: how do you get an A-lister, and not position her as the fulcrum, reducing everyone else to react to her doings? But Khan submits to the demands of her role, her make-up-less face, severely pulled back hair, no-nonsense attire in place, pushing past her pain towards clear purpose, and possible redemption.
