Woody Allens new film, To Rome With Love isnt nearly as inventive or as fascinating as last years Midnight in Paris, but it is nevertheless a light, frothy confection that youll have trouble hating.Alternating between whimsical and charming, To Rome With Love is inconsistent, and feels lazy at times. The track involving Roberto Benigni is decidedly underdeveloped, and theres a farcical element to the storyline involving the newlywed couple that doesnt fit easily with the other more subtle tracks. But theres enough to like here too. At 76, the filmmaker still delivers an enjoyable enough film, even if it isnt one of his best. Im going with three out of five for Woody Allens To Rome With Love. Good, but never great.

Woody Allen. He not only directs To Rome with Love; he also happens to be the man behind the script (Woody Allen is the writer too)… and he also stars in this movie. And disappoint he does not at least when it comes to his performance. In fact, To Rome with Love scores purely for the huge star cast, and then for the performances put forth by the same cast.Unfortunately, it is the script — too many characters, too many sub plots, too many unexplained fundas/stories — that leaves you rather disappointed. That’s when you realise To Rome with Love is no Woody Allen’s Oscar-winning (Midnight in Paris, Manhattan or Hannah and her sisters) effort

In To Rome With Love (TRWL), Allen shifts focus from Paris to Rome. TRWL tries to bring out the different flavours of Rome and sets itself apart from the usual romantic comedies.TRWL blends the real and the fantastic seamlessly to present to you the farce that is life. The concept of time has been utilised in an interesting manner as we see that some stories are spread over a long period of time, some over just a month while another one over just one afternoon. The juggling of narratives and the transition from one time frame to another has been done expertly.TRWL leaves you charmed and happy and even though this one might not make the Oscars list, you must still watch it.
