Some of the scenes are a bit ‘out there’, in a manner of speaking. It’s almost like the writers had ingested something before coming up with some scenarios. Or the very premise of the story – that of a snail that’s faster than a racing car? But the good thing is that the film delights in its absurdity. Although this movie is no Toy Story or Shrek, it is nicely paced, energetic and entertaining enough in 3D. And as an underdog story, its message is positive and simple enough – one should never give up one one’s dreams and aspirations in life, no matter what the odds.

The plot smoothly progresses, interrupting periodically for musical montages featuring rap tunes. But the scenarios witnessed also bring along strong feelings of deja vu. What different is this snail who longs to be a racer from a rodent who longs to be a chef in “Ratatouille”? Or that building up to a big auto race set in Indianapolis different from one set in “Cars” and at the very end, there’s even a brief nod to “Transformers”. Kids are bound to love this film, as for the adults they would find “Turbo” a bit trivial.
