On the whole, Twisters is a beautifully made thriller. It will score in English more than in Hindi because the concept of tornadoes is quite alien to the Hindi film-going audience while the English film-going viewers are more receptive of even concepts which they may not have experienced. Publicity: limited. Opening: dull (because of the odd-day release). …….Also released all over. Opening was below the mark.

Overall, ‘Twisters’ is a decent addition to Hollywood’s arsenal of disaster films. Only if this stormy actioner had more emotional conviction in its story and execution, it could have been a cinematic force to reckon with.

If the timing of Twisters seems pretty propitious, being bang in the middle of a US presidential election where winning the Midwest is crucial for who gets to the White House, the makers have an alibi. The film, directed by Chung of the Oscar-winning Minari fame, is officially a stand-alone sequel of the 1996 hit that went by a singular Twister.

Minari’s Lee Isaac Chung has created that perfect storm of a sequel with enough easter eggs for fans and a bouquet of thrills and tech for the new kids in town.
