The glue that binds the film in the end is Caesar, or the lifelike portrayal by Serkis. Its a deeply affecting performance that is rich in emotion. The actor somehow manages to imbue the animal with a multitude of feelings and a distinct personality. Its impossible that you wont be moved.Im going with three-and-a-half out of five for War for the Planet of the Apes. Its a rock solid thriller with a big beating heart at its center. Definitely worth your time.

Considering this is the third entry following Rise and Dawn in the rebooted franchise, War builds on those two films but manages to succeed on its own two legs. Audiences unfamiliar with those events wont feel entirely left out; there are a few callbacks along with minor exposition to fill those gaps. All of which to say this is a remarkable experience that should not be missed – War for the Planet of the Apes is a thought-provoking and emotionally resonant film that balances action and special effects well enough to make it stand out from all the blockbusters seen so far this year.

The new entry, War for the Planet of the Apes, is an installment that achieves the incredibly rare feat of becoming a trilogy that gets better with every subsequent film. This is the film that cements Caesar as an iconic cinematic character, and Matt Reeves as the only contemporary filmmaker who uses giant VFX to exercise thoughtful and surprisingly emotional social commentary rather than the popcorn entertainment of explosions and mindless action.

Its smart, sombre and defiantly old-fashioned. The ninth iteration in this five-decade-old franchise is by far the most compelling, swinging even higher than the cult classic 1968 original. Essentially a cautionary tale of mans inhumanity to fellow living beings, War for the Planet of the Apes is, quite simply, one of the finest mainstream Hollywood films in recent times.

The film, a revenge drama also comes with the message that violence or war is not the solution, not always. After all, an eye for an eye only makes the whole world go blind! What will happen if we keep on fighting each other and exhaust ourselves one day?Matt Reeves War for the Planet of the Apes is a gripping adventure tale which is also thought-provoking as it raises several questions. I would recommend watching it.
